Me and Ellie

This little beautiful girl was born last week to our Lucky Girl, who was raised on a bottle so she is very tame. Actually Lucky had twins but the other one didn't survive. She allows us to hug on her baby and herself but after a couple of days the babies don't want to be hugged. The other night we were checking for new babies when we saw Ellie standing alone looking for her Mom. I got off the buggy and knelt down and called her and she came running to me and came right up to me. When she figured it out she turned and walked away but not without letting me pet her. And that folks is one of the reasons I love this farm life.

Miracle of Birth

It's always a joy for me to get to witness a birth of a new baby calf. This one just born when we got there. Still wet and Mom starts talking to it and making noises. She is saying I'll dry you off little one and then you get up and eat. And he does. This is a registered Short Horn cow and she was bred to a registered Hereford Bull. This is what we got from that combination. A handsome little fella indeed! Have I mentioned I love farm life?
